The National Rural Water Association's quarterly magazine was just released with a featuring article about WCS' Bio-Domes. We are extremely excited about the opportunity to be recognized in such a respected and relevant magazine. Inclusion in this magazine is a milestone of national recognition for WCS and indicates a growing acceptance of our innovative products in solving a problem for so many communities.

Oct. 2011 - WCS' Pilots Featured in Treatment Plant Operator

WCS, Marshall Bond Pumps and the Village of Gresham have been featured in the November issue of TPO. A quote from Art Bahr, the Village Administrator, says it all: "When compared with other technologies for cold-weather nitrification, Bio-Domes are an affordable, simple green solution to a long-term problem,” says Bahr. “They will help us meet and exceed our regulatory requirements, while minimizing chemical use and maintenance.”

Sep. 2011 - EPA Releases New Lagoon Design Manual

The new document, entitled Principles of Design and Operation of Wastewater Treatment Pond Systems for Pond Operators, Engineers and Managers is the culmination of years of effort by the EPA to create a new reference document for Lagoons. WCS is honored to have been included in section 6.4 as part of the Commercial Products as "a means to improve pond performance and reduce N..." Click on the image to the left to open the manual. Archie Lagoons will be equipped with 20 Bio-Domes

Aug. 2011 - Archie, MO Evaluating the Bio-Domes

Faced with a proposal for a $2 Million Dollar mechanical plant, Archie MO began looking for alternatives to help them meet their winter ammonia limits. After contacting WCS, it was determined that 20 Bio-Domes could solve their problem at a total installed cost of around $150,000. After receiving approval from the Missouri DNR, Archie decided to install the full scale system as a pilot study in order to get final approval from the state for the system.

Aug. 2011 - Lenox, IA Evaluating the Bio-Domes

Lenox, IA has joined the growing number of communities interested in Bio-Domes. Right now their lagoons are producing ammonia effluent values below 1 during the summer months but they lose all nitrification once the weather gets cold. WCS has installed one of the Mobile Pilot Units in order to show the community that we can provide a system capable of helping them meet their winter Ammonia limits.

July 2011 - New Castle, VA Evaluating the Bio-Domes

New Castle, VA has begun evaluating the Bio-Domes to evaluate their effectiveness in reducing Algae concentrations in their wastewater effluent during the summer months. Initially the community was planning on installing sand filters. If the pilot study, intended to go through the end of September, is successful; the Bio-Domes will save the community thousands of dollars in capital cost with significant O&M savings as well.

June 2011 - WCS & Gresham WI release Pilot Summary Report

The final results are in! With the help of Art Bahr in Gresham WI WCS was able to run the mobile pilot unit from October 2010 - April 2011 with great success. In water temperatures between 2 - 4 degrees Celsius, the Bio-Dome was able to deliver Ammonia effluent concentrations below 1 consistently. While there were a few hiccups along the way, overall the pilot operated very well and was able to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Bio-Domes in cold weather.

May 2011 - WCS Products Featured in Resource Magazine

In recognition of the low energy cost of the Bio-Domes and their ability to extend the useful life of wastewater lagoons WCS's products have been featured in Resource Magazine. Published by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, Resource is distributed to over 10,000 engineers around the United States.

May 2011 - WCS Products Featured in Popular Science

In what many are claiming to be a first for wastewater technologies, WCS's Bio-Domes have been featured in an issue of Popular Science. Shown on pages 14 - 15 the piece is part of Popular Science's Mega Pixel project and shows a very high resolution photo of the Plain City installation. WCS is very excited about this additional coverage because of Popular Science's long standing reputation and distribution beyond the typical interested parties of the wastewater industry.

Feb. 2011 - WCS Products Featured on NPR's Living On Earth

Art Bahr of the Village of Gresham recently had a chance to sit down with NPR's Living on Earth to discuss the current status of their pilot study and his overall impressions of the technology. WCS, in conjunction with Art Bahr, will be releasing a press release in May with the results of Gresham's pilot study.

Jan. 2011 - WCS Products Featured in Discovery News

In the wake of this month's press release, WCS has seen a large jump in public interest and has had the opportunity to speak with manu journalists about the Bio-Domes and their ability to help communities stay in compliance with current and future regulations. Jan. 2011 - WCS Presents at Impaired Water Symposium

Kraig Johnson, CTO of Wastewater Compliance Systems, was invited to present the findings of research performed on Enhanced Carbonaceous and Nitrogen Compounds Removal at this years Water Environment Federation's Impaired Water Symposium. Kraig's presentation will cover research performed in the fall of 2009 as well as more recent data obtained from installation sites around the United States. Nov. 2010 - Gresham WI Announces Cold Weather Ammonia Pilot

Gresham WI today announced the installation of a Cold Weather Pilot Unit intended to study the efficacy of bio-domes in reducing ammonia levels in cold northern environments. Gresham is eager to evaluate the bio-domes because of the potential savings they represent for the community in upgrading their wastewater lagoons in order to meet their new permit levels. Oct. 2010 - WCS Launches Cold Weather Mobile Pilot Units

WCS, Inc. today announced that it is expanding the WCS Mobile Pilot Program.  The Company is currently deploying Mobile Pilot Units at select municipal and industrial installations throughout the continental United States. In order to accommodate customers in northern climates where winter ammonia removal is an issue, WCS has retrofitted a number of cargo containers to provide pilot demonstrations in even the coldest environments.

Aug. 2010 - WCS Launches Warm Weather Mobile Pilot Unit

Responding to consumer demand, WCS, Inc. today announced that is has launched the WCS Mobile Pilot Program.  The Company is currently deploying Mobile Pilot Units at select municipal and industrial installations throughout the continental United States. Through participation in the Company’s Mobile Pilot Program, customers are able to evaluate specific metrics for increased levels of bio-remediation efficiency and regulatory compliance.

Jul. 2010 - WCS receives contract for National Park upgrade

WCS, Inc. today announced that it has secured a government contract with the National Park Service for the implementation and full-scale deployment of its patented bio-dome technology.  The WCS National Park Service deployment will take place at Glacier National Park, Montana.

Jun 2010 - WCS is awarded Phase I SBIR Grant

WCS, Inc. today announced that the Company has been awarded a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research Program Grant. The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program stimulates technological innovation in the private sector by strengthening the role of small business concerns in meeting Federal research and development needs, and increasing the commercial application of federally supported research results.

Jackpot NV, Bio Dome Installation

May 2010 - WCS Installs third full scale system

WCS, Inc. today announced that after a successfully pilot demonstration during the winter months has secured an order from the city of Jackpot NV for a full scale installation of bio-domes in the communities newly lined wastewater lagoon. Delivery is scheduled to begin in June and the system is scheduled to be fully operational by December 2010.

Without sufficient colonies of bacteria to consume the dissolved compounds in a wastewater lagoon it is very easy for the discharge water to become non-compliant. WCS understands the importance of biological activity, and in creating the poo-gloo, attempted to create the perfect aerobic biological wastewater treatment device.

Oct. 2009 - WCS receives Phase II grant from Utah CoE

WCS, Inc. today announced that it has received a $400,000.00 Phase II commercialization grant from the Utah Centers of Excellence Program.  The Centers of Excellence Program is a State funded GRANT program developed by the Utah Legislature in 1986 to help accelerate the process of taking university-developed cutting-edge technologies to market, thereby driving economic development and creating jobs for Utahns.  WCS’s Phase II Centers of Excellence Grant follows up on the Phase I Centers of Excellence Grant WCS, Inc. received from the State of Utah in 2008.

Jul, 2009 - WCS Completes Series A funding with Park CIty Angels

WCS, Inc., an emerging leader in proprietary wastewater technologies, today announced that it has completed a Series A financing, led by the Park City Angel Network.  Proceeds from the financing will be used to further develop and commercialize the Company’s patented poo-gloo technology.  WCS’s poo-gloo product assists wastewater operators in achieving increased bio-remediation efficiency and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Nov. 2008 - WCS closes sales with first customers

WCS, Inc. today announced the locations of the first two bio-dome (formerly poo-gloo) installations. After working closely with city officials and plant operators WCS has secured orders from Plain City UT and Wellsville UT. Installations are scheduled to begin in the spring.

Oct. 2008 - WCS receives R&D Grant from UoU

WCS, Inc. today announced that it has been awarded a $50,000.00 research and development grant from the University of Utah.  Proceeds of this award will aid WCS, Inc. in further R&D and proof of concept activities related to its proprietary wastewater treatment technology.  WCS, Inc. was founded in 2008 to commercialize technologies invented at the University of Utah.

Jul. 2008 - Exclusive license granted from UoU

WCS, Inc. announced today that it has executed an exclusive, worldwide license and commercialization agreement with the University of Utah with respect to the submerged, aerated, bio-reactor technology developed at the University of Utah by Dr. Kraig Johnson and Dr. Larry Reevely.  “With a strong intellectual property portfolio and a scalable market platform, we are excited to deliver this innovative technology to the worldwide marketplace,” said Fred Jaeger, the President and CEO of WCS, Inc.
